We're building the payment platform we always wanted.
Paytab was founded in London in 2024 by a small team of payments engineers, product designers and finance operators who were frustrated with how much friction remains in "modern" payment platforms.
Merchants juggle three or four tools to accept a card, send an invoice, pay a contractor, and reconcile the books. Fees are opaque. Onboarding is slow. Dashboards are ugly. Support is scarce.
We think it's time for a payments platform that treats you like an adult: transparent pricing, one login, a beautiful dashboard, and a real human on the phone when you need one. That means one balance, one reconciliation file, one number to call, and rates that are printed on the website — not "call for a quote".
Paytab is built and regulated in the UK. Our engineering, product, design, risk and support teams sit within a few metres of each other in a converted warehouse in Shoreditch — because the fastest way to fix payment problems for merchants is to put the people who build the platform in the same room as the people who answer the phone.
Today, more than 12,000 UK businesses run their payments on Paytab — from first-day sole traders to publicly listed retailers, from independent charities to global marketplaces. And we're just getting started.
Six ideas we come back to, every week.
These aren't posters on the wall — they're the actual arguments we have in product review.
Treat merchants like adults
Transparent pricing, honest documentation, real numbers on the dashboard. No dark patterns, no hidden fees, no surprise deductions.
Security is a feature, not a footnote
We built Paytab to bank-grade standards from day one — PCI DSS Level 1, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and a full-time security team.
Design is not decoration
A calmer dashboard, a better checkout, a shorter reconciliation report — small design improvements compound into a real competitive advantage for our merchants.
Ship small, ship often
Weekly releases. Additive API changes. Semver-versioned breaking changes that are opt-in. Boring, predictable, dependable.
Support is engineering
Our support team includes engineers. If you hit a bug, the person answering can usually diagnose it in the same conversation.
Own the outcome
When something goes wrong — a bug, a downtime, a bad model prediction — we say so, publicly, quickly, and we fix it. No spin.
